Experimental LiveCDs/DVDs based on KDE 3.5.8 and KDE 4.0 available |
|
by stf at 2008-02-02 12:24:24 |
Both ISOs are optimized for i686 systems and automatically boot to the GUI login and into KDE; Console logins are accessible via CTRL+ALT+(F1 to F6). The password for root and rocker (default user) is rock.
Because the LiveCDs use aufs all files can be modified and deleted in RAM, but automatically saving or restoring changes to the LiveCD system is not supported (yet). The LiveCDs are designed to support installation of (parts of) the system to a hard disk, but this is not yet tested or automated (although it should be pretty simple).
Please note that these LiveCDs are experimental and as such contain patches and features which are not in trunk (yet) and haven\'t received much testing.
Have fun!

Update for arm, sparc, and x86_64 build-bootstrap systems |
|
by stf at 2007-12-03 13:35:35 |
I have updated the build-bootstrap ISO images a while ago. Most important user-visible changes include a working stone setup tool and the shadow package which was previously missing. With these you can install a small working build-bootstrap system using the menu-based installer. You still need an additional boot loader (e.g. isolinux on the CD image or a pre-installed one) to boot from hard disks.

Build-bootstrap systems for arm, sparc, and x86_64 uploaded |
|
by stf at 2007-08-05 11:51:18 |
These ISO images offer cross-builds of (a subset of) the build-bootstrap
package selection for the respective architectures as emulated by qemu.
They include support for all the hardware emulated by qemu, a working udev,
kernel and userland support for TCP/IP networking, and more.
With qemu and the ISO images you can at least:
- boot the kernel and first stage initrd,
- execute a shell from the initrd,
- load the second stage from a CD-ROM,
- and install packages from the CD on a hard disk.
The packages included should be sufficient for native builds on the targeted
platform.

ROCKate |
|
by blindcoder at 2007-04-03 14:18:45 |
There are now four new ISOs available of the yet-to-be-announced ROCKate LiveCD:
rockate_ultimate: 250 MB, all inclusive, with doc and dev packages
rockate_large: 200 MB, all inclusive, no doc or dev packages
rockate_medium: 120 MB, only necessary packages
rockate_small: 48 MB, only necessary files
For a semi-advanced user, these ISOs provide less and less functionality. But the small one fits on a visitcard sized CD-R :-) |
